How Estimated Band works
Estimated Band is a practice estimate from our grader for IELTS Writing Task 2. It is not an official IELTS score.

After you Submit a Task 2 Essay on the Writing Desk, the grader returns an Overall Estimated Band and four Trait Estimated Bands: Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. Each figure is a 0.5 step on the 0–9 scale the exam uses as public categories.
We hold out original essays we own to check the grader internally. We do not publish those essays or an accuracy number. We do not rank checkers by accuracy, and we do not treat Estimated Band as an examiner report or admissions advice.
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by IELTS, IDP, the British Council, or Cambridge University Press & Assessment. The practice estimate is ours.
Optional Scaffold is a Chinese explanation of why a Grade Report scored as it did. It is not a translation of Examiner Feedback, not a Chinese Marketing Site, and not a second product.
Academic Task 1 charts and General Training letters are not supported yet. This page is about Task 2 only.
